Wide Span Sheds has been a leading Australian supplier of quality steel building kits for over 14 years. Our steel buildings have many applications including garages, farm sheds, stables, arenas, barns, kit homes and industrial buildings. A large number of our customers purchase the kits and erect them themselves as owner builders, but is it an easy process?
We are not going to lie to you; it does take time, planning and the ability to follow instructions. You will also need to have access to appropriate tools in order to safely and securely erect your steel building. We supply step-by-step plans and you will need to follow these very carefully and put trust in what we have provided to you. We know our buildings and we know how they need to be put together.
Our steel buildings are bundled together in the relevant sections, which mean you put section by section together.
Again, we can’t stress enough, that depending on the size of your building and the design, it could take some serious time to complete the full erection of your new steel structure. You will also need to ensure the appropriate construction bracing is applied during the construction process to protect your building from winds.
Owner builders will also need to contact their local council to see if and what permits and licences they will need to acquire to legally assemble their own shed. This is very important, because if you don’t hold the appropriate licences, then your insurance may be completely void.
Erecting your own steel structure is a challenging yet hugely rewarding experience. However, there are necessary steps that need to be taken. If you can do this, then erecting your own steel building kit could very well be the solution for you.
