Pat’s not one to let age, health issues (or anything else for that matter) get in the way of getting the job done. These things are just minor setbacks, and why we think he’s a bit of a legend…
A couple of hours South West of Brisbane, Patrick (who goes by Pat) is an 83-year-old legend!
Pat ordered his kit from Wide Span Sheds at the beginning of 2019. Shortly after, he suffered a minor stroke which affected his ability to walk. He returned from hospital sometime later to find that his Wide Span Sheds kit had been delivered. In good spirits, he shared ‘it was in better order than I was, that’s for sure!’.
Initially, Pat thought about finding a local builder or selling the kit to someone else, but after several weeks of rehabilitation he decided to ‘throw away the walking stick and start building the shed’.
Pat has a 5 tonne Komatsu excavator which he used to prepare the footings. With many years of welding experience, Pat fabricated his own trailer to help him reach the top of the shed and haul COLORBOND® sheets onto the roof.
Pat reflected on his journey noting how ‘It was a marvellous thing…I enjoyed doing it…the construction manual is so full of information’ and passes on the advice to ‘make sure you read every bit’.
After battling his own health issues and being the full-time carer of his wife, Pat was able to complete the construction of his shed within 3 months. We’re grateful to have customers like Pat. When asked about his Wide Span Sheds experience, he replied ‘it really is easy. I’ll recommend them any day, I can tell you.’
At 83, Pat proves that where there’s a will there’s a way and at Wide Span Sheds, we’re thankful to be a part of his story.
