Armed with determination, the demolition was a labour of love, and Darren cleared the way for the new structure, so he could bring their vision to life. He also levelled the block and laid the substructure to the floor, meticulously preparing the foundation for what was to come. The sight of the framework standing tall was a testament to Darren's dedication to their dream. After three years and one month of hard work, the completion with a Certificate of Occupancy (COO) marked a triumphant moment for Darren and Alyson, validating their efforts and unwavering spirit throughout the journey.
Darren and Alyson’s dream home was made possible by Wide Span Sheds. It features 4 bedrooms, with an open-plan dining, kitchen, and living area that formed the heart of the home as well as a front and rear verandah. With minimal queries on the plans, the project progressed smoothly, and the robust exterior insulation finishing system (EIFS) cladding (R rating 3.9) ensured excellent weatherproofing for their home. The internal walls (R rating 2.5), roof (R rating 6.5), and underfloor (R rating 2.5) further enhanced the energy efficiency of the structure.
Darren and Alyson’s budget-savvy approach, in partnership with Wide Span Sheds, helped them build their dream home under $200,000. The system provided essential steel products without on-selling additional items at an added margin. Unlike many suppliers, Wide Span Sheds doesn’t include standard inclusions like windows, doors, gyprock, and plumbing with extra costs. As an Owner Builder, they used a Bunnings power pass card for affordable materials. Smart decisions on tapware and fixtures further cut expenses, all while achieving their vision and quality.

Scouring Facebook Marketplace, Darren and Alyson stumbled upon incredible deals, saving substantial costs on materials.
