Steel framed houses are all the go in Australia right now; in fact, they have been for quite a while. They look great, are super strong, affordable, can withstand Australia’s unpredictable climate and won’t be attacked by termites. These buildings certainly have a lot of integrity in the frame of the building, which is an extremely important aspect when building your new home. Let us explain.
Steel is a tremendous building material and is a popular choice by builders and consumers alike. In the past century, steel has proven to be a very strong contender in the building industry, and providing you buy a building made from reputable Australian steel, then you can be rest assured that you are buying a sturdy frame that is less likely to warp or bend due to the natural elements. Steel is also very capable of supporting immense amounts of weight. Read our blog on the benefit of steel framed houses.
Steel framed houses can be much cheaper than your conventional brick home. The reason for this is that the material is lighter, which means it is easier to transport. The lightweight components also mean that you are less likely to have to spend a fortune on heavy machinery. Additionally, as a Wide Span Homes is supplied in kit form, you have the option of becoming an owner builder (saving yourself a fortune on labour costs). You can also outsource a lot of the other fixtures such as windows, doors, and gyprock yourself.
Termites can’t and won’t eat through steel, so you can be rest assured that termites won’t attack the steel frame of your house.
