Understanding the various garages available in the market

09/07/15

Steel Garages

There are a whole lot of choices out there when it comes to garages; they come in an assortment of designs and sizes. You can get a garage connected to the house, detached buildings, detached garages with connecting carports and also garages with workshops. There really are so many options to choose from.

To help make this decision easier for you, we thought we would briefly explain the various options available to you.

Our favourite: The steel garage

At Wide Span sheds, we love our steel buildings. And when it comes to garages, there is a lot of variety in the steel kind. Plus steel sheds are generally quite flexible in design, allowing you to easily alter them to suit your building needs. Steel garages come in single and multi-car lock-up options, designs with connecting carports are also available and garages with ample space for workshops.

Steel is an extremely robust and long-lasting material, capable of withstanding the harsh Australian environment and landscape. On top of that, steel is less likely to be compromised by termites – so you can rest assured that the structural integrity of your shed will stay in tack.

Steel garages are relatively easy to construct and take much less time than your traditional garages – saving you on labour costs.

Garages made with brick

If you are looking for a garage to be attached to your home, then brick is generally the chosen material – however, brick can be quite costly. There are also many designs for brick garages that are separate from the house also and brick buildings can be customised depending on the builder you use.

Timber garages

Wood is the traditional building material used, and in recent years has lost its appeal, mainly due to the fact that it weathers quite easily and discolours. Timber also requires much more maintenance and care to keep it looking brand new compared to your steel and brick garages.

We are not meaning to sound biased, but unless you want a garage that is connected to your house, then the steel variety offers exceptional value for money, looks great and lasts a very long time. Call us today to find out about our range of steel garages.
