Meet Phil Davis

10/11/21

Garages

There's a special relationship between a man and his car. Car enthusiast and Crookwell Car Club member, Phil Davis has had a lifelong obsession with classic cars that led to a passion to helping others with their vehicle.

Follow along his story as he shares his love for cars and how he was able to find the perfect workshop to tinker on his 1970 Mach 1 Mustang with help from Wide Span Sheds. He'll even tell about how he and his wife decided to build the shed kit all by themselves.

"I've always had a passion for cars," starts Phil

as he speaks to us in his impressive private workshop. From the professional hoist in the centre of the building to the number of tools to the impressive collection of car-related memorabilia, it is apparent that Phil is quite the car enthusiast.

It all started from a young age when he had the opportunity to work on a number of unique cars and now he has one of his own: his beloved 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1.

"Yeah, its a pretty good car," Phil says in his humble way. "But costs a lot of money to petrol in it!" he remarks with a smile.

His involvement in the Crookwell Car Club is an extension of his love for classic cars.

Starting in 2017, Phil has become a key member of the well-respected Crookwell Car Club. His mechanical knowledge, his friendly persona and a shared passion for cars has made him a great fit for the Club.

"The highlight for me is the mateship and the friendship that I've developed in the club," Phil explains. One of the things he enjoys doing is having other Club members over to his place and helping them tinker on their vehicles in his Wide Span Sheds' workshop.

"I first heard of Wide Span Sheds when I was doing my research to buy the shed,"

Phil tells us sitting in his very own Wide Span Shed.

He explains how he needed a very specific design feature for his building: a high centre to fit his hoist. Wide Span Sheds were more than happy to help make that happen. Phil talks about how impressed he was of the experience, particularly the customer service.

"The communication when I was buying the shed was very good, " Phil says. "If I needed to ask any questions, I'd either email or ring them and yeah (they'd be) straight back on the phone or the email to me."

We were impressed to hear that Phil and his wife built the shed all on their own, even though they are not builders themselves.

"We figured its just one big jigsaw puzzle, the plans were well laid out, so my wife and I built it ourselves."

Six weekends of work was all it took to the erect the shed. Phil and his wife couldn't have been happier with the result.

"It's a perfect design. It's exactly what I needed. It was fairly easy to build. And yeah, ticks all the boxes as far as I'm concerned."
